Emma's recent travel experiences

Emma Pritchard has worked in travel for 15 years and we have been lucky to have her at Deva Travel for five of those. We asked Emma to relay five of her most recent travel experiences to provide you with some inspiration for your next holiday…

Bruges – was full of Medieval charm and a great place for Christmas markets. I’d suggest taking a boat ride along the canals or relaxing in the back of a horse drawn carriage to get a different view of the city, or even climb to the top of the 13th Century belfry overlooking the bustling market square. No visit here is complete without sampling the delicious local chocolate. My visit was part of a 4-day Christmas Market Cruise with Cunard.

New York – probably my favourite city, offering a dazzling array of things to do from museums and galleries to shopping and theatres; this certainly is the city that never sleeps! Be sure to get your Empire State observation tickets before you travel to avoid the long queues, and don’t forget, we can help with tickets for Broadway shows and can even help get you seats to watch the famous New York Knicks! I stayed at the glamorous, iconic Waldorf Astoria – it was like being in a movie set!

Thailand – Thailand is rightly known as the Land of Smiles for its friendly and hospitable people. With its ancient palaces and temples, colourful floating markets, serene jungles and aromatic food it certainly has something for everyone. Take in an elephant sanctuary (I visited Elephant Hills which was amazing) to get a hands on experience with these magnificent creatures. I stayed at the Shangri-La Bangkok, Elephant Hills Camp and the Centara Grand in Krabi.

Florida – from the pristine beaches of the Gulf Coast to the laid back art deco vibe of Miami, Florida has a lot to offer but its main appeal has to be the non-stop action of Orlando. With an array of theme parks, attractions, dining and shopping it’s no wonder people return here year after year. With seven different theme parks and four waterparks to choose from, plus the chance to swim with dolphins, you will never be bored on this holiday! Ensure you get your park passes before you travel to get the best discounts and avoid the long queues. I stayed in a gorgeous Renaissance Villa with its own pool.

Marrakech – discover the thrill of Marrakech with its crazy tangle of streets filled with snake charmers, story tellers, dancers and market stalls; it’s easy to get lost in its magical thrall. Visit the beautiful Jardin Majorelle Gardens formally owned by Yves Saint Laurent for some peace and calm in this bustling city and stay at one of the cities many Riads for an authentic Moroccan experience. I stayed at the Jardins De La Katoubia.
